Hubert Awarded Contracts Totaling $6.5M

The month of April has been rewarding for Hubert Construction with the award and contracting of four projects, with an aggregate value of more the $6.5 million.  More importantly, two of the projects are added as back log with construction start dates in the third quarter of this year.   Projects awarded with immediate starts include the Goddard School of Silver Spring and an expansion to the Nursing School at George Washington University’s Loudoun Science and Technology Campus.

The Goddard School is a rather unique project, located in downtown Silver Spring Maryland.   Designed by the CMW Group, of Frederick Maryland, the 15,152 S.F. project is a retro-fit of the third and fourth floors of an office condominium building.  The existing multi-office suite build-out is to be demolished, replaced with a child care build-out the will include rooms for infant care, pre-school and school age child care.  Additional space is provided for offices, food prep and service, along with significant restroom facilities.  A potential future phase includes for creation of an elevated out door play area.  This project is an excellent example of finding a solution to the child care needs of parents in urban areas.

The Nursing School expansion for George Washington is a follow-up to a Hubert project completed several years ago.  The build-out will create additional space for the schools Nursing Simulator Lab in response to the needs of this rapidly expanding program.

Projects added to Hubert’s growing back log will be the $2.1 million renovation of restroom and locker facilities at Navy Federal Credit Union’s Vienna, Virginia campus.  Work will commence this summer with completion expected for this winter.  The Spring Hill Academy is an 11,596 S.F., $2.8 million child care facility in Franconia, Virginia.  Construction is projected to start this fall, on what is a greenfield site.  The single story wood framed building will require full site development prior to commencing construction of the structure.  Hubert is currently managing the site plan review and building permit acquisition process.
