Hubert Construction Breaks Ground on 62,330 SF in Northern Virginia
Firm Completes 29,600 SF in MD and VA;
Projects Include Fitness Centers, Day Care Facilities, and Medical Offices
Gaithersburg, Maryland, July 30, 2009…Hubert Construction has broken ground on a 12,330 square foot private school and a 50,000 SF fitness center in Loudoun County, Virginia. At the same time, the Gaithersburg, Maryland-based construction firm has completed one base building and two interior construction projects totaling 29,600 square feet, both in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
NEW PROJECTS:
- Hubert Construction has broken ground on the 50,000 SF Brambleton Fitness Center to be located in the Brambleton Town Center in Brambleton, Loudoun County, VA. Brambleton is planned and developed as a tight-knit community where neighbors could find shopping and entertainment are close to home. The new 42,000 SF Sport and Health facility, designed by Barry Dunn & Associates, helps make the developer’s vision a reality. It will have state-of-the-art exercise equipment, basketball courts, saunas, tanning and massage areas, a juice bar, spin room, aerobics rooms, a child care area, lounge, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The remaining 8,000 SF will be used for office and retail space.
- Also in Virginia’s Prince William County, Hubert Construction has broken ground on the Minnieland Day School at Heritage Hunt, located at 7101 Heritage Village Plaza in Gainesville. The new 12,330 SF facility will provide care and education for children of three weeks through 12 years of age. Designed by Parker & Associates Architects, the building will consist of a wood structure with a brick façade and shingled roof and will house eight classrooms, two infant rooms, a kitchen, and a laundry room. Each classroom will have two bathrooms, and there will be a covered outdoor play area. Minnieland has been in business for over 35 years and is one of the largest child care providers in Virginia with over 100 locations including child care centers, private elementary and middle schools, and school-age care sites.
COMPLETED PROJECTS:
- Hubert Construction has built a new dining and fitness building for Westat at the company’s headquarters, located at 1600 Research Boulevard in Rockville, MD. This new three-story building is adjacent to Westat’s parking garage, connected to the main building via a new vestibule. Designed by DNC Architects, Inc., the 16,000 SF structure features a two-story atrium with clear curtain walls and a monumental stair. The top floor of the new building houses a new café providing healthy meal choices for Westat’s 2,000-plus employees. The café is equipped with a full kitchen and food station area, along with seating areas. The first-floor fitness center has state-of-the-art exercise equipment, men’s and women’s locker rooms, and an aerobics room where group classes are held. The lower level has future office space and a storage area. The new building is intended to implement the company’s employee wellness program called “The Right Track.”
- Nearby in Maryland’s Montgomery County, Hubert Construction has completed the interior renovation of a 4,500 SF Nighttime Care Center at the Muddy Branch Shopping Center in Gaithersburg, MD. Designed by James Lloyd Architects, PA, the renovation brings bright colors and whimsical murals to the facility’s exam rooms, restrooms, lab, pharmacy, and waiting areas. Rapidly growing Nighttime Care Centers began in 1989 with a group of pediatricians known as Nighttime Pediatrics. Operating primarily from 11:00 a.m., to midnight 365 days a year, Nighttime Care serves children and adults when they cannot access their regular physicians.
- Hubert Construction just completed an interior build-out for Minnieland Day School at 23521 Overland Drive in Dulles, VA. Designed by Arencibia Architects, Inc., Hubert’s 9,100 square foot build-out included nine classrooms and infant care rooms with two bathrooms in each room, plus a kitchen. Hubert Construction also is building an all-new larger Minnieland facility in Gainesville.
